Tolkien and philosophy: an international conference in Modena


Enter the mind of Tolkien, distinguishing, where possible, between the diviner love of sounds and words and the careful listener around the world, the culture and ways of interpreting it. "Tolkien and philosophy" is in fact the title of the International Conference that, going into details, will be divided into a tight five events. Opening at 10 am for that Shippey discuss philosophy and philology "with Franco Manni, refined exegete of Tolkien. The word then change to Christopher Garbowski will examine the philosophy and theology around the theme of Tolkien's death. The afternoon starts at 15 with a face-off between Andrea Monda and Wu Ming 4 from the question, "Tolkien's Catholic thinker?" Then move on to listening to Verlyn Flieger on "Tolkien's philosophy of time and lunguaggio. Conclude with a discussion among the speakers of course open to audience questions.
